Dr. Sujani Bandela
About
Sujani Bandela, MD, is a vascular neurologist specializing in stroke care, post-stroke spasticity management, and migraine treatment at UT Health San Antonio. She treats acute stroke patients, including hospital follow-ups and new evaluations, as well as individuals with spasticity, migraines, dystonias, blepharospasm, and hemifacial spasms. Dr. Bandela serves a diverse patient population in South Texas, particularly underserved communities, providing closer access to stroke care through targeted advocacy initiatives. Her signature techniques include Botox injections for post-stroke spasticity, migraines, dystonias, and facial spasms, performed at dedicated clinics such as the UT Health Medical Arts and Research Center (MARC) and University Hospital spasticity clinic. As an associate program director for the neurology residency, she mentors residents while maintaining a robust clinical practice. Actively involved in research, Dr. Bandela leads a state-funded grant project through the Lone Star Stroke Consortium comparing Alteplase (tPA) to Tenecteplase (tNK) for acute stroke thrombolysis, participates in clinical trials on secondary stroke prevention, and develops educational projects. Her clinical philosophy emphasizes comprehensive stroke management, from acute intervention to long-term rehabilitation and prevention, integrated with community advocacy to address disparities in underserved populations.
